You can buy Avodart online (aka Dutasteride) as a cure for hair loss and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men. Since many athletes take androgenic steroid, it can be also helpful in prevention of androgenic side effects. Dutasteride is a chemical relative of Finasteride, the active agent of Propecia.
How does Avodart work?
Recently scientists found out that men suffering from alopecia or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), have high levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This hormone takes its origin from Testosterone. The enzyme, which mediates conversion of testosterone into DHT is called 5-alpha-reductase.
It turned out that men suffering from alopecia and BPH have high levels of this enzyme. Dutasteride can inhibit 5-alpha-reductase, thus interrupting conversion of testosterone into DHT. Therefore, it can treat both prostatic hyperplasia and alopecia in men.
Although these two disorders have common origin, FDA approved Dutasteride as a cure for prostatic hyperplasia only. The beneficial effect of hair loss prevention one should regard as “side effect”.
How does Avodart differ from Finasteride?
Both substances have similar action – inhibition of 5-alpha-reductase. However, Dutasteride can inhibit two types of this enzyme, meanwhile Finasteride only one type. Thus, Avodart is more powerful in fighting prostatic hyperplasia and hair loss. It can decrease the amount of DHT by 90 % in a couple of weeks.
Can Dutasteride re-grow hair in men?
As well as Finasteride, Avodart can increase the number of hairs, but the results may vary. In general, men taking Avodart cannot replenish all the lost hairs. However, this drug can significantly reduce and delay the development of alopecia.
Is Avodart safe?
According to clinical reports, the usage of Avodart is well tolerated. Most side effects are mild and disappear after discontinuation of the drug.
Since DHT is important hormone for development of male fetus, pregnant women should avoid handling Dutasteride. In addition, men taking this drug should not donate blood during 6 months, in order to avoid the risk of transfusion of this blood into the pregnant woman.
Those who have liver problems should consult their doctor before taking Dutasteride.
